"Average"
In Mathematics average is the representative of a group of numbers. The average is of many kinds but we will deal only with the "arithmetic average".
The average = sum of quantities / number of quantities.

Examples:
1) The grade students had the following attendance last week. Find their average student present each day?
Monday 25, Tuesday 22, Wednesday 30, Thursday 29 , Friday 33, Saturday 31.
Total attendance = 25 + 22 + 30 + 29 + 31 + 31 = 168
Total number of days = 7
Average = 168 / 7 = 24 students each day.

2) Find the average of the following number.
9.6, 7.8, 5.8, 10.1, 7.6, 8.2?
Total of numbers = 9.6 + 7.8 + 5.8 + 10.1 + 7.6 + 8.2 = 49.1
Total numbers = 6
Average = 49.1 / 6 = 8.18.
