CONCUSSIONS
AND CONTUSIONS
Internal injuries may prove to be more
harmful than apparent ones. A sharp blow
to the head may result in a concussion,
a jostling of the brain inside its protective,
bony covering. A more serious head injury
may result in contusions, or bruises to
the brain. A period of unconsciousness
may indicate brain damage and accompanies
many head injuries.
Other Symptoms For A Brain Injury:
-
Clear or reddish fluid draining from the
ears, nose, or mouth
- Difficulty
in speaking
- Headache
- Unequal
size of eye pupils
- Pale
skin
- Paralysis
of an arm or leg (opposite side of the
injury) or face (same side of the injury)
What you can do:
- This
condition does not require any immediate
action. In this type of situation avoid
giving any kind of liquid to drink.
- The
first and the foremost action should be
to call for the medical help. While waiting
on help to arrive, keep the victim lying
down in the recovery position.
- Try
to control if there is any bleeding, and
be sure that he is breathing properly.
If the patient becomes unconscious for
any amount of time, keep noting down this
information so that you can report it
when medical help arrives.
