Heat Exhaustion

In the days of staying longer at school for practice, you may engross too deeply in the situation to take care of excessive heat and intake of water. This may cause you to get heat exhausted.
Heat Exhaustion occurs when the body's normal cooling mechanisms become overwhelmed by the combination of heat and dehydration. Such a situation leads the
body temperature to rise dramatically. Fevers ofd or higher may occur as a result of heat exhaustion.
Symptoms of heat exhaustion:

  • Slight irritability
  • An upset stomach
  • Dizziness
  • Weakness
  • A rise in temperature
  • A pale or flushed complexion
  • Faintness
  • Profuse sweating
  • Nausea, Vomiting
  • Headache
  • A lack of coordination and the inability to think clearly.

    What you should do

  • Shift the patient to a relaxed location like a dark and cool room
  • Loosen or remove clothing and cool the victim with water or fan the patient for quick evaporation.
  • Give the victim beverages or slightly salted water to sip every 15 minutes. Avoid giving patient any liquids containing alcohol or caffeine as these may interfere with the body's ability to regulate its internal temperature.
  • If the victim's condition does not improve or worsens, seek medical attention immediately.
